Thank God!
One of the most common things that men say when they are trying to join the Hope CDA program is that they are already a Christian. “I have been going to church my whole life, but then slid away.” “My parents always took me to church. I am definitely a Christian.”
Sadly, many did not know what it took to become a follower of Jesus. Honestly, there is a very simple way to become a child of God. Romans 10:9-10 sums it up perfectly where it reads: 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
The Great Assurance
By acknowledging these things, one is saved. One has an eternal resting place with God.
It sounds so easy that many think there has to be a catch. The truth is that there is none. Heading into this week, our men are going to learn more about salvation. You can read their lesson by visiting this link.
The great thing about salvation is that we can have absolute certainty about it. In John 10:28-29, Jesus assured His disciples of this when He said, “28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.”
Paul added in 2 Corinthians 1:22 that we can be sure of our salvation because God “has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”
By accepting Jesus as Lord, we can be absolutely sure of our place with Him eternally. The Holy Spirit has sealed that as truth.
Thank God, We Can Say That!
This was the message and our song during devotion this last week, as we sang along with Peter Burton and his song, “Where Would I Be.” You can follow along with the song below:
Where would we be if we didn’t have Jesus? The great thing is that we don’t have to answer that question. As Burton says, “thank God we’ll never know.”
We never have to question our place with Jesus. If we have done as Romans 10 asks, we have already secured our place with Jesus forever.
Celebrating a Life Dedicated to Jesus
On Monday, at 6:00 p.m. at Mission of Hope, we will celebrate the graduation of Kaleb Duerre. Kaleb has not only reached an important milestone in his life, as he has gone more than 13 months since his last drink or drug use. More importantly, Kaleb has committed himself to Jesus, knowing that he is no longer a prodigal son, that he never has to ask, “Where would he be without Jesus?”
What an amazing declaration for our brother. Not only has he made tremendous changes in his life but has become an inspiration to his parents and siblings. He has done so well that he has officially began his position as Program Navigator at Hope CDA, joining Joe Mason.
Please come and celebrate our brother’s moment of victory.
Hope Good News
On Sunday, May 3, at 4:00 p.m., Evan Dearborn wants to make his public declaration about following Jesus as he will get baptized by Dr. Robert Pannier. What an amazing moment for our brother, and we ask that you come and join us at Mohawk Park for this event.
Hope Wants to Help
We continue to ask for donations for Megan Mango and her daughter after they lost everything in a fire. The flyer below lists ways you can help the two. If you can, please assist our sister and her daughter.

Prayers for the Week
We ask you to join in prayer for these things:
- For Lavonne Johnson as she heads to the Mayo Clinic for her check up. We ask God to bring great healing on her.
- For Kaleb as he completes the Hope CDA program. May God keep him on a great path that keeps him focused on Jesus while discipling and leading others.
- For Ben Heath we ask for prayers to assist him in finding full-time employment. Ben has been looking but has not been successful and is getting discouraged. May God find him a great job where he can glorify Jesus.
- For Megan to find a new home and a job.
