David Pendleton Featured at 5th Annual Hope CDA Gala
Hope CDA is proud to announce that Christian Ventriloquist/Comedian David Pendleton will be the featured act at the 5th Annual Gala Event. David has appeared on shows such as Huckabee, Gaither Homecoming, and Holland America. He has appeared at
Adding the ventriloquist to the Gala is quite a change from previous year’s events, but Hope CDA Executive Director Dr. Robert Pannier sees this as a golden opportunity to change the event for the better. “(Previous Executive Director) Carl (Gonder) had talked to me about adding David to the gala, and I think it is a brilliant idea. David has such a heart for second chances. He has performed and ministered to men in prison, and he loves Jesus. He will make this a night to remember.”
Pendleton has spent a lot of his professional career going to correctional facilities to perform and encourage the men and women behind bars. In fact, he has used his platform to reach those in prisons across the country, spreading the message of hope and second chances.
Besides providing an inspiring message, David is also extremely funny and entertaining. David has an amazing cast of characters, including the “unfiltered” Aunt Tilly. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about Hope CDA and to enjoy one of the funniest men in the business. You can learn more about David by visiting his website.
The 5th Annual Hope CDA Gala will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel in Cedar Rapids. You can sign up now to host a table or just come for the show. We look forward to seeing you there!

Cementing the New Hope CDA Businesses
We have teased this for weeks, but Hope CDA will be starting two new business enterprises in the next two months. The first will be a concrete business, providing concrete installation for patios, driveways, walkways, and other locations. The endeavor will be led by Foreman Shane Ness. We will have more information about this in next week’s edition of The Hope Herald.
In addition, Hope CDA will be starting a car detailing business. This is likely to start in early May. Currently, we are looking for locations to set up shop. If you know of a location that you would like to recommend or have a location available for us to use, please let us know by contacting Dr. Robert Pannier (Rob.P@HopeCDAcr.org or (952) 905-1930).
Josh Hansen Graduation
Just a reminder that the graduation ceremony for Josh Hansen will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Mission of Hope. Previous years’ graduations were held at 7:00 p.m., but graduations moving forward will occur at 6:00. Please come and celebrate this momentous occasion for our dear brother.
Hope Good News
Chris McFadden was accepted into the program about a month ago, but had to wait to complete his parole time in Illinois, which was scheduled for May 2. However, the parole agent was so impressed with Chris coming to Hope CDA that she is releasing him immediately. So, he will begin the program on Monday, April 7… Troy Lloyd helped lead the Cursillo retreat at Sheepgate this past weekend. Troy has always proven to have a great deal of knowledge about God, and is seizing opportunities to share that knowledge…
Do You Like to Destroy Things?
The demolition work at 1700 4th Avenue, SE began last week. However, we need help this week to complete the task. If you have a free afternoon, please contact Dr. Pannier. A group has generously offered to frame the building for free for us next week, so our need to complete the demolition work has gone into warp speed. If you can spare any time, please let us know.
Prayers for the Week
We ask you to join in prayer for these things:
- We ask you to pray for Chris as he begins the Hope CDA program.
- We ask you to pray for the new enterprises. May they not only be a success for Hope CDA, but impact the community in positive ways as well.
- We ask you to pray for the renovation and remodel of the new stability house at 1700 4th Avenue, SE.
- We ask you to pray for Lavonne, as she will be at the MAO clinic on Monday and Tuesday. Lavonne has never received good news when visiting MAO, so let this be a first time she does.
- We ask you to pray for Cody Eickhoff. He will return to being a full-time dad this week as his son will join him later this week.
Tuesday Night Encouragement at Hope CDA
This Tuesday, Hope CDA Foreman Shane Ness will provide his testimony. Shane has never spoken on Tuesday night and has rarely shared his testimony, so this should be a great event. Please come and join us to support and share in the sorrows and triumphs of our brother’s life. The presentation begins at 6:00 p.m.
