A Word From the Executive Director
Dear Friends,
I’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to the 4th annual Hope CDA Gala on Thursday, October 24 at The DoubleTree Hotel.
It’s going to be a great night of celebrating what God has done and casting vision for the future of the ministry. Our theme is “All In” and it is a night you won’t want to miss. To serve as a table host, sponsor or to attend as a guest, click here.
In this newsletter, find out what has been happening this summer at Hope CDA! (Click here).
Thank you for your support as we help to give men a second chance in life.
Your teammate in Christ,

Kernels Outings This Summer
Thank you Cedar Rapids Kernels for blessing us with two wonderful outings this year. A great time was had by everyone.
Getting Involved In Our Community
A big “well done” to the Wellington Heights Neighborhood Association for hosting the annual Art in the Park event (Redmond Park). There were over 50 local organizations involved with kids activities, including the popular Hope CDA twister game!
Community Service
Our participants provided some “muscle” for His Hands Free Medical Clinic with their recent “shoe drive”, helping to load over 800 bags (20,000 pairs of shoes). Great job guys!
A Record Year
Helping to address our low-income housing shortage, we have refurbished a record six houses this year alone, with four homes sold. Stop by 610 14th Street SE sometime to see a home that is almost ready to go on the market!
Guest Speakers A Big Blessing
We have been blessed this summer with fantastic guest speakers! Big thanks to Pastor Paul Hennings (St. Mark’s/FaithLife Church); Susan Johnston (Central Furniture Rescue); Pastor Jason Ishmael (Antioch Church); Pastor Michael Perkins (Oakland Nazarene); Pastor Mike Jones (Good News Baptist) and Pastor Jay Haugh (New Covenant Bible Church).
Graduate Walter Gonzales Completes Program
Congratulations to graduate Walter Gonzales who received his diesel mechanic certification through the Mack Trucks Academy!
ASAC Workshops
ASAC Prevention Specialist Amy Doerrfeld gave two outstanding workshops, helping us to better understand how we can minister to those who have experienced trauma and addiction.
Freedom Parade
Hope CDA took part in the recent Freedom Parade, displaying a brand new “shed” that our foreman and participants built. What a great time it was to be part of this big community event in downtown Cedar Rapids!
